This week we are taking advantage of the letter "Q" to do some review by asking the questions, "¿Qué and Quién es?" (What and Who is it?) We are learning about the letter "Q" in Spanish which acts like the letter "K" in English. It is pronounced "Coo." We are also learning about Quito, Ecuador and John Quiñones. Just like our review time back in the fall, we are playing the crazy "fly swatter game" (a student favorite!!), Bingo, Memory, the bubbles game... Whew! The students really have learned an incredible amount. The year is winding down, but some of the most difficult material is yet to come.
Please keep encouraging your students to practice Spanish as much as they can at home. They can say so many sentences now, so please encourage them to not be shy about sharing with you all that they have learned. They can describe different professions and the places where they work. They can talk about clothing- what color it is and what body parts it should be worn on. They can count, tell time, give dates, talk about their family and their house... so many things! Keep looking for Spanish all around you- either in print or spoken in different places you visit. Keep playing the games on the website- they will help reinforce the vocabulary we have learned. Also ask about Quito, Ecuador and John Quiñones. Why is it cold in Quito even though it is near the equator? What does John Quiñones do?
Coming up next week... "R is for Restaurante" (Time to start learning about food!)
