Now that we are getting good at describing people in our family, we are going to start talking about where we live with our family. We will be describing the rooms of the house and the furniture in them. We will also be learning about the verb "estar" which means "to be." It is used to describe location and emotion. We are already very good at using the verb "ser" which also means "to be." This verb is used with descriptive adjectives such as tall or young. We are practicing making sentences like "La mesa es grande. La mesa está en la cocina." (The table is big. The table is in the kitchen.) Please continue to practice these types of sentences at home. See if your student can talk about the rooms in their own house and say things like, "Mi madre está en el comedor." (My mom is in the dining room.) The students can also give us a tour of their house on Flipgrid to practice this new house vocabulary.
This week, we welcome Armando, Jennifer, and Katelyn- three student teachers from RIC who are training to be Spanish teachers. They will be teaching a Kindergarten class, a 3rd grade class, a 4th grade class, and a 5th grade class this week. After getting to know all of the students through observation last week, they are excited to begin teaching this week.
I'm busy working on my blog posts. Watch this space!
