This week, we will be traveling to Bolivia. There, we will learn about the verb "estar" (another way of saying, "to be") and we'll learn to talk about our houses. First, we'll watch a video about 7 interesting facts about Bolivia. Did you know there is a hotel in Bolivia made entirely of salt? Did you know the highest navigable lake in the world is in Bolivia? It's Lake Titicaca! We will be learning all about the music, the people, the houses, the geography, and the food of Bolivia this month.
In our textbook, we will continue to follow the adventures of Charlie and Anna as they travel to Bolivia to learn about how we live. We'll learn to describe our houses, talk about the country and the city, and learn to conjugate "estar." We're also working on our pronunciation skills by practicing the hard and soft "c" sound.
This Friday is Dia de la Raza (Indigenous People Day). We will be celebrating during our Friday afternoon community building hour. In our buddy groups, we'll be making papel picado, learning to dance salsa, and visiting a Hispanic countries fair set up by our 5th graders.
