This week, we are finishing up our time in Bolivia. We have learned all about the salt flats, the salt hotel, llamas, and the Andes Mountains. We've learned about Lake Titicaca and Lake Poopo. We've even seen a Donald Duck cartoon all about Bolivia! This week, we'll be watching a traditional Bolivian dance called the Cuenca.
We are also finishing Unit 2 this week. We have been talking about ¿Cómo vivimos? (How do we live?) We started by talking about our houses, then we talked about our clothing and its colors. Last week, we talked about workers in the community and this week we'll be talking about places in the community. We'll be learning to conjugate two new verbs: "ir" (to go) and "estar" (to be). Again, we'll be using songs to help us with conjugation. It really does get the verbs stuck in your head!
Some great videos to review this week are:
"The Ir Song"
"The Estar Song"
"Los Colores" (good for younger students- talks about colors and professions!)
The Unit 2 videos for "Descubre el Español" (at the bottom of the videos page)
There are quizzes for "Ser", "estar" and "ir" on the worksheets and quizzes page. These can be challenging, but are a good review for older students. (This is high school level work and the 2nd graders have been doing it! Pretty impressive!)
There are lots of games to practice colors, clothing, house vocabulary, places, and professions.
¡Sigue practicando! Keep practicing!
